Charlotte’s Backpacking Packing List

Here is a suggested packing list for a woman backpacking in Europe for one week:

1. Clothing:

• 4-5 tops (mix of short and long sleeves)

• 1-2 dresses or skirts

• 1 pair of shorts or a skirt

• 2-3 pairs of pants (jeans or leggings)

• 1-2 sets of lightweight pajamas

• 1 sweater or light jacket for cooler weather

• 1 pair of comfortable walking shoes

• 1 pair of sandals or flip-flops

• 7 pairs of socks

• 7 pairs of underwear

• 1 swimsuit (optional)

2. Toiletries:

• Toothbrush and toothpaste

• Razor and solid soap (optional)

• Deodorant

• Sunscreen

• Lip balm

• Shampoo and conditioner (travel-sized bottles)

• Face wash and moisturizer

• Makeup and any other personal grooming products

• Feminine hygiene products

3. Other essentials:

• Passport and other travel documents

• Money belt or hidden wallet for safekeeping of cash and documents

• Cell phone and charger

• Camera and charger

• Travel adapter for electronic devices

• Water bottle

• Umbrella or rain jacket (depending on the weather forecast)

• Travel insurance documents

• Travel guidebook or map

• Snacks and any necessary medications

• A small first aid kit (including adhesive bandages, pain relievers, and any prescription medications)

4. Optional items:

• A small daypack for day trips or excursions

• A travel pillow and blanket for long flights or train rides

• A book or other entertainment for downtime

• A reusable water bottle with a filter for safe drinking water on the go

Remember to pack light and only bring items that you will actually need. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for your destination and pack accordingly.
