5 Tips for Efficient and Organized Backpacking with Packing Cubes

Traveling with a backpack and ultra lightweight packing cubes can be a great way to minimize luggage and stay organized on your trip. Here are some tips for packing efficiently and effectively:

  1. Make a packing list: Before you start packing, make a list of all the items you need to bring. This will help you stay organized and avoid packing unnecessary items.
  2. Use packing cubes: Packing cubes are a great way to keep your clothes and other items organized and easy to access. They also help to compress your clothes, so you can fit more into your backpack.
  3. Roll your clothes: Rather than folding your clothes, try rolling them up tightly. This will help you fit more into your backpack and minimize wrinkles.
  4. Pack lightweight, versatile items: Choose lightweight, versatile items that can be worn in multiple different settings. This will help you minimize the number of items you need to pack, and allow you to mix and match outfits more easily.
  5. Avoid overpacking: It can be tempting to bring a lot of items “just in case,” but try to avoid overpacking. Only bring the essentials, and remember that you can usually purchase items you need while on your trip.
  6. Consider packing a small, lightweight daypack: A small daypack can be useful for carrying items you need to access quickly, such as your camera, snacks, and a water bottle. It can also be helpful for carrying any souvenirs you pick up along the way.

By following these tips, you can pack efficiently and effectively for your trip, and enjoy the convenience and flexibility of traveling with a backpack and packing cubes.

  1. I’m a huge fan of both packing cubes and osprey- no idea they had their own!

    1. Oh yes! Wait until you see them! They are as thin as a nylon shopping bag and weigh nothing. I just bought a second set because I realized I’m not committed to use my Amazon tech bags (handy as they are) when I can use a much lighter cube.

      2. The links in my post are for Amazon, but if you’re in Canada, Altitude Sports has them at 50% off during Boxing Week. (Just a tip if you’re fence-sitting. I’ve never seen them this cheap anywhere.)
